The Wellfleet OysterFest, organized by the Wellfleet Oyster Alliance, is a two-day fall celebration held every October in downtown Wellfleet. Celebrating its 25th year, this family-friendly event attracts over 20,000 guests who gather to enjoy local oysters and other types of shellfish, live music entertainment, local arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, and a children’s zone with games and activities.

Highlighting the community’s shell-fishing culture steeped in heritage, the festival features the renowned Oyster Shuck-Off competition, one of the largest in America. The festive revelers get to enjoy this once a year shuck-off, complemented by beer & wine gardens and regional food vendors. Take part in educational exhibits, road races, and interactive programs that enhance the experience. Festival proceeds support local shellfishermen, conservation efforts, and oyster ecology programs that serve to educate and protect locals and visitors about oysters and their habitats.
