The 2026 Provincetown Book Festival, scheduled for September 25 – 27, features prestigious authors Ibram X. Kendi and Hannah Lillith Assadi. Kendi, author of the bestselling How to Be an Antiracist and most recently, Chain of Ideas, will be interviewed by Dorothy E. Roberts, Professor of Civil Rights at the University of Pennsylvania, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26. Hannah Lillith Assadi is the author of Paradise 17, a novel inspired by her Palestinian father’s search for home. She will appear at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, along with National Book Award-winning novelist Julia Glass, who will interview Assadi.
The Provincetown Book Festival opens on Friday night, September 25th, at 6:00 p.m., with the Rose Dorothea Award Reading and Reception at the Provincetown Library. The Rose Dorothea Award will be presented to David Dunlap, author of the book Building Provincetown, which explores Provincetown history through its architecture. The Rose Dorothea Award is given annually by the Board of Library Trustees to someone with a strong connection to the Outer Cape who has made a significant contribution through the written word.
Sixteen other prominent authors will appear as guests at the Festival, including local favorite Russ Lopez, author of Provincetown Stories, who will be in conversation with Michael Lowenthal, author of a book of essays called Place Envy; and Christopher Castelanni, author of the true crime-inspired novel Last Seen, along with American Book Award winner De’Shawn Charles Winslow, author of the novel The Fervent Whites.
