About
Built in 1978, this contemporary style cottage looks out onto a tidal estuary in the Lieutenant Island Road area of Wellfleet. The house is bright and open and nicely furnished and well equipped. The kitchen, living room and dining area along with a bedroom with a king bed and full bath make up the main floor. On the second level an open loft has two twin beds along with a sitting area. Sliders from the living area lead to a large deck and the beautiful views of the changing tides on the salt marsh. It is a 5-10 minute drive to Wellfleet Center and the beaches at the ocean, the bay and the ponds. Non-refundable $250.00 fee (includes administrative fee and damage waiver insurance) plus applicable state and local taxes. Linen package is available at additional cost upon request.

Not a great experience. The faucet on the one bathroom sink broke off. It was about 3 days at least before someone came to fix it. We had to use the kitchen sink. The repair guy (who was a nice local dude) said he "forgot" to come and repair it. A smoke alarm on the ceiling 20 ft up in the air. Was beeping for three days before someone came with a ladder. We lost two nights of sleep. There was an odor in the bedroom like a pet had soiled the carpet. The mattress was horrible. We had to drive to Hyannis to buy a topper to make it manageable. With the cost of renting so hight now, this was not worth it.

We are so sorry your experience was not exemplary. Smoke detectors here on the Cape have proven to be an invaluable necessity and also quite problematic in our humid months! At the fire departments recommendations, all batteries are replaced at the beginning of each rental season and the units are cleaned however spiders and the dreaded no-see-ums (who love the warm sand and salt air as much as we do) tend visit smoke detectors leaving webs and subsequently catching those pesky bugs. This can cause the device to chirp or even arm themselves especially when the air is humid. We would hope you don't experience a smoke detector problem again but in the event you do, we always recommend contacting the local fire department to ensure safety and functionality of the devices. As you mentioned, the placement of one of the detectors required our handyman to return with a longer ladder to access and resolve the problem which also allowed him to retrieve the parts necessary to repair the sink! Your reports of the odor in the home and the bed you found uncomfortable were relayed to the owner who immediately looked into the matter as the house is not pet friendly. The annual carpet cleaning of the home was performed with extra care as their request! Thank you for your feedback. Our family of 4 enjoyed the house very much, mostly because of the very comfortable living room, loft room and big deck.

We enjoyed our stay in this clean and comfortable home. It was well supplied with everything we needed to cook and clean. The deck had a wonderful view and we loved having our meals out there. Our only dissatisfaction was the poor water pressure in the outdoor shower and it would be great to have a gas grill rather than charcoal. Would definitely rent again and recommend this home.
